Based on that self certification, you may need to provide the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety with a current medical examiner’s certificate and show any variance you may have to obtain or keep your CDL. Examples of Self Certification • Non-excepted Interstate: A person that normally crosses state lines as a CDL driver such as Swift Transportation, J.B. Hunt, or an independent truker (DOT Card required)• Excepted Interstate: school bus, state or federal government; basically the ones that are exempt but might cross state lines. (DOT Card not required)• Non-excepted Intrastate: A farmer who participates in commerce but does not cross the state line, diesel mechanic that test drives commercial vehicles but does not cross state lines. (DOT Card not required but, will receive a K restriction)• Excepted Intrastate: City of Oklahoma City, city or county government or other group that is exempt but will only drive in Oklahoma. (DOT Card not required but, will receive a K restriction)•By self certifying as Excepted INTRASTATE or Non-Excepted INTRASTATE that means the "K" restriction will be added to the applicants license, which is for CDL Intrastate only. (Intrastate means you only drive as a CDL driver within the sate of Oklahoma and do not cross state line)
